Salman is a friend in deed.

He will not only act in but also produce Mahesh Manjrekar's next.

This has been a good year for Mahesh Manjrekar. After three Hindi releases, Himmatwala, Shootout At Wadala, Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara and a Marathi one, Aajcha Divas Maajha, Manjrekar's pet project too has finally kicked off.

The actor-director had waited for Salman Khan for nearly two and a half years and now the star has finally green-lit his project. The cherry on top, Salman will not only star but also produce the film under his banner, Salman Khan Productions.

Manjrekar has been very vocal about his friendship with Salman, which started on the sets of Dabangg. He then went on to act in three Sallu flicks, Wanted, Ready and Bodyguard in the recent past.

He has gone on to say that Salman is a "misunderstood" person and "his only friend in the film industry now" and now the superstar has proved that he is a friend in deed.

A source close to Manjrekar remained tight lipped about the details, but told Mirror that the film will go on floors early next year.

"When there was a recent delay in Kick, Salman was contemplating giving some dates to Manjrekar's film so that the film could kick off," added the source.

There were earlier reports that Govinda will be a part of the project but the source told this newspaper, "No, Govinda is not a part of the film, it is an out and out Salman Khan film."

Manjrekar is working on the script and the source added that the recce for locales will start soon.

Manjrekar remained unavailable for comment. The source added that he is bound by contract to not talk about the project until a formal announcement is made in the near future.
